When is Australia Day on a Thursday?
The next time Australia Day falls on a Thursday is Thursday, January 26, 2034, 2,636 days from today.
Every year Australia Day falls on a Thursday
| Year | Date | From now |
|---|---|---|
| 2034 | January 26, 2034 | 7.2 years |
| 2040 | January 26, 2040 | 13.2 years |
| 2045 | January 26, 2045 | 18.2 years |
| 2051 | January 26, 2051 | 24.2 years |
| 2062 | January 26, 2062 | 35.2 years |
The gaps between them are not even. A fixed calendar date moves forward one weekday each year and two across a leap year, so the same weekday recurs on a 6, 11, 5, 6, 11 pattern rather than every seven years.
How far apart are they?
The gap between one Thursday occurrence and the next is 6, then 5, then 6, then 11 years. That uneven rhythm comes from leap years: a fixed date moves forward one weekday most years but two whenever a 29 February sits in between, so the same weekday returns on an irregular cycle rather than every seven years.
About Australia Day
