How age is calculated
Age counts completed years since birth, so it increases on the birthday itself rather than the day after. The months-and-days remainder walks real calendar months, which is why it does not always match a simple division: someone born on 31 January is one month old on 28 February in a common year, because February has no 31st.
Leap days are handled exactly. A person born on 29 February has a birthday only in leap years, and the usual convention in most countries is to treat 1 March as the legal birthday in common years, which is what the days-until-next-birthday figure uses.

- Does age go up on the birthday or the day after?
- On the birthday itself. Someone born on 1 June turns a year older on 1 June, not 2 June.
- What happens if I was born on 29 February?
- The exact birthday recurs only in leap years. For the countdown we use 1 March in common years, which matches the usual legal convention.
- Is my date of birth stored anywhere?
