How many Wednesdays until Christmas Eve?
There are 7 Wednesdays between today and Christmas Eve on Thursday, December 24, 2026. That is 46 days in total, or 6.6 weeks.
Why count wednesdays rather than days?
Counting a single weekday is useful when something repeats weekly, such as a class, a delivery or a recurring meeting, and you want to know how many more fall before Christmas Eve.

How the count is worked out
Counting starts from tomorrow, not today, and includes Christmas Eve itself if it lands on a Wednesday. That matters most when the event is close: a difference of one day at the start can change the total by a whole Wednesday. Because weekdays repeat every seven days, the count is roughly the number of days remaining divided by seven, then rounded up or down depending on which weekday today is. Today is a Sunday, and Christmas Eve falls on a Thursday.
Wednesdays until Christmas Eve in future years
The figure changes every year, because both the starting date and the weekday Christmas Eve falls on shift. Counted from the same point each year:
| Christmas Eve | Weekday | Wednesdays in the year before |
|---|---|---|
| December 24, 2026 | Thursday | 52 |
| December 24, 2027 | Friday | 52 |
| December 24, 2028 | Sunday | 52 |
| December 24, 2029 | Monday | 52 |
| December 24, 2030 | Tuesday | 52 |
Wednesdays by month
How the remaining wednesdays spread across the calendar between now and Christmas Eve:
| Month | Wednesdays |
|---|---|
| November 2026 | 3 |
| December 2026 | 4 |
Most months contain four of any given weekday, and some contain five. A month has five of a weekday whenever its length runs past the fourth occurrence, which is why the totals above are not evenly spread.
